Stop comparing yourself - your journey with your dog is unique
People tend to compare themselves. We see our neighbor's dog walking easily on a leash, staying calm when other dogs pass by - and immediately the comparison begins in our heads: "Why doesn't that work for me?" "Why does it work so easily for them?" But this comparison only leads in one direction: to frustration, pressure and self-doubt.
Not every dog starts with the same prerequisites
What you see is only the surface. You don't know what the other dog's disposition is. Perhaps this dog has less forward drive by nature, a calmer disposition or simply a different temperament. Perhaps the owner hardly had to do anything because his dog is naturally more balanced. But this has nothing to do with better training - it is simply a different set of starting conditions.
Comparisons distort reality
When you compare yourself with others, you quickly forget that your path is your own. You have a different dog. A different story. A different environment. And a different personality. So if you try to copy the methods or style of others without considering your own situation, you're bound to be disappointed. Because what works for others doesn't necessarily work for you.
Stay with yourself
The key to real progress is to stay with you and your dog. If you are already in my coaching, trust the process. Stay on your line. Stay on your plan. Your dog needs clarity, not comparisons. Every step you take - no matter how small it seems - is a step forward if you take it consciously.
Why tips from outside are often useless
Many dog owners like to give tips. But unless they have had the same problem as you and have solved it sustainably, their advice is usually worthless. They mean well - but they don't see your system, your dynamics, your story. Therefore, don't be put off when others tell you to "just try this". Instead, trust your own path and what you learn in your coaching.
Conclusion
Comparisons rob you of energy. They distract you from your own progress and create expectations that have nothing to do with your reality. Leadership means staying with yourself - calm, clear, focused. Your dog doesn't need your neighbor's way. He needs your way. Stay on it. Stay with you. Stay real. This creates results that not only work, but also feel real.
