The mindset in dog training
The path to a reliable and relaxed dog. When I accompany people with their dogs—in Zurich, throughout Switzerland, or online worldwide—I always focus on more than just exercises or technique. It's about a mindset that determines whether a dog will truly become reliable or not. A mindset based on acceptance, clarity, and genuine leadership. Because a relaxed dog always starts with a clear-minded person.
Why acceptance is more important than reward
Dogs generally act for two reasons: because they benefit or because they accept. Many methods rely almost entirely on rewards. But rewards only work if the dog feels like playing along. I, on the other hand, work with acceptance—with clear agreements between humans and dogs. When I call my dog, he shouldn't come because I have a treat or because he's in a good mood. He should come because he accepts that a recall is binding.
This form of leadership gives the dog:
safety
orientation
and much more freedom
Because a dog that clearly understands what is expected of it can live a relaxed life—without chaos, without arguments, without stress.
Dog training is a journey
Many people want quick results. But real dog training is never linear.
There are:
progress
setbacks
plateaus
aha moments
It's not perfection that matters, but the upward trend. We are growing—step by step. And our dog is growing with us. Mistakes are part of the process. They are not a sign of failure, but a sign of development.
The two phases of education
I divide the training into two distinct phases:
1. The explanation phase
Here, I explain to the dog what I want from him: clear signals, clear procedures, clear communication. He understands: "Ah, so that's what this behavior means."
2. The enforcement phase
Now it's all about acceptance—about the dog consistently applying what it has learned, not just when it wants to, but because it's necessary.
Example callback:
First, the dog learns the sequence: come – sit – wait. Then it learns that this agreement always applies – even when distracted.
This is exactly how reliability is created. A dog that doesn't guess what to do—but knows what to do.

The goal: a dog that is confident, free, and reliable
I want people to have a dog by their side that is relaxed, confident, and suitable for everyday life. A dog that doesn't go through life feeling insecure or overwhelmed, but knows exactly where it stands—because you give it that confidence.
That is the core of my work: a relationship that is not based on chance, but on clarity, responsibility, and trust.
